{"id":333584,"date":"2014-10-29T18:32:06","date_gmt":"2014-10-29T22:32:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rael.org\/?p=333584"},"modified":"2021-07-09T20:13:40","modified_gmt":"2021-07-10T00:13:40","slug":"nurse-fighting-ebola-quarantine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/noproxy.rael.org\/da\/nurse-fighting-ebola-quarantine\/","title":{"rendered":"Nurse fighting Ebola quarantine"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>RAEL&#8217;S COMMENT:<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<h5><strong><span style=\"color: #008080\"> I hope she will get millions of $ in compensation for this abuse of power. <\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong><!--more--><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"article__summary summary \">\n<p>The American nurse who is being quarantined against her will after returning from a mission in West Africa says she may sue officials in the state of Maine if they refuse to lift the restrictions they\u2019ve imposed.<\/p>\n<p>Kaci Hickox, the nurse, told ABC\u2019s \u201cGood Morning America\u201d on Wednesday this week that she will soon outright reject the state\u2019s attempt to keep her isolated, despite the requests from officials who fear that allowing the woman out of a Fort Kent, ME residence could lead to an Ebola outbreak.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will go to court to attain my freedom,\u201d Hickox told the television network Wednesday morning during an interview conducted over Skype. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Update:<\/p>\n<p>A Maine judge on Friday ruled in favor of a nurse who defied a quarantine in a tense standoff with state authorities, saying local health officials failed to prove the need for a stricter order enforcing an Ebola quarantine.<\/p>\n<p>District Court Chief Judge Charles LaVerdiere ordered nurse Kaci Hickox, who recently returned to the United States after treating Ebola patients in Sierra Leone, to submit to \u201cdirect active monitoring,\u201d coordinate travel with public health officials and immediately notify health authorities should symptoms appear.
