{"id":264408,"date":"2017-07-09T17:47:14","date_gmt":"2017-07-09T21:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rael.org\/?p=264408"},"modified":"2020-11-22T09:49:09","modified_gmt":"2020-11-22T14:49:09","slug":"vatican-rules-the-body-of-christ-cant-be-gluten-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/noproxy.rael.org\/fp\/vatican-rules-the-body-of-christ-cant-be-gluten-free\/","title":{"rendered":"Vatican rules the Body of Christ can\u2019t be gluten free"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>RAEL\u2019S COMMENT:<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Definitely a great laughing morning\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Pope Francis has weighed in on the matter of religious bread-making by reminding his flock that the Body of Christ is not gluten-free.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter circulated to Roman Catholic bishops, Cardinal Robert Sarah of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments was instructed by the Pope to tell church members about the correct ingredients of the bread and wine given to mass celebrants.<\/p>\n<p>The Body of Christ, the blessed bread given to Catholics, must contain a small amount of gluten, according to the Vatican, while the wine must be made from unsoured grapes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHosts that are completely gluten-free are invalid matter for the celebration of the Eucharist,\u201d according to the letter which was translated by Vatican Radio.<\/p>\n<p>It adds that bread made from another substance, even if it is grain, does not constitute valid matter for the Sacrifice and the Eucharistic Sacrament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLow-gluten hosts are valid matter,\u201d the letter continues.
