{"id":252602,"date":"2018-10-22T14:09:40","date_gmt":"2018-10-22T18:09:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rael.org\/?p=252602"},"modified":"2020-08-08T14:13:34","modified_gmt":"2020-08-08T18:13:34","slug":"ethiopia-takes-land-back-from-investors-who-promised-jobs-and-failed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/noproxy.rael.org\/id\/ethiopia-takes-land-back-from-investors-who-promised-jobs-and-failed\/","title":{"rendered":"Ethiopia takes land back from investors who promised jobs and failed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>RAEL\u2019S COMMENT:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Wonderful!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Ethiopia has revoked a total of 412.6 hectares of land held by investors, including Ethiopian-born Saudi billionaire Mohammed Hussein al-Amoudi for failure to create jobs and develop the city, as promised when the lands were awarded to them, head of Addis Ababa Land Bank Tesfaye Tilahun\u00a0told\u00a0the Voice of America.<\/p>\n<p>The investors had promised to create jobs for the youth and develop Addis Ababa by\u00a0building industries, hotels, a media center and other complexes in the busy city which has over 4 million residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll they did was make a fence around thousands square feet of land and left it for years. That is all they did. Instead of building the city, they gave the city a bad image, making it a place of waste collections,\u201d said Tilahun, while explaining why 95 individuals and\u00a0businesses lost their licenses.<\/p>\n<p>Of the\u00a0412.6 hectares of land, 55\u00a0were associated with Mohammed International Development Research and Organization Companies (MIDROC), a private company that belongs to\u00a0Ethiopian-born Saudi billionaire Mohammed Hussein al-Amoudi.
