{"id":281583,"date":"2016-11-07T15:36:16","date_gmt":"2016-11-07T20:36:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rael.org\/?p=281583"},"modified":"2020-10-30T15:52:13","modified_gmt":"2020-10-30T19:52:13","slug":"brian-cox-explains-why-we-havent-seen-aliens-yet-and-it-isnt-pretty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/noproxy.rael.org\/ro\/brian-cox-explains-why-we-havent-seen-aliens-yet-and-it-isnt-pretty\/","title":{"rendered":"Brian Cox explains why we haven\u2019t seen aliens yet \u2013 And it isn\u2019t pretty"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>RAEL\u2019S COMMENT:<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>Exactly what is in the Messages of Elohim, given 43 years ago: only planets with a level of wisdom as high as their level of science can survive auto-destruction and reach an interplanetary level of civilization.<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Physicist Brian Cox has weighed in one of astronomy&#8217;s most curious questions: Given the high probability of extraterrestrial life existing in the endlessly massive universe, why haven&#8217;t we seen any clear evidence of it?<\/p>\n<p>This question was first put forward by Italian physicist Enrico Fermi in the 1950s, in what\u2019s now known as the\u00a0Fermi paradox.\u00a0He argued there&#8217;s a contradiction\u00a0between the high probability of alien life existing and the total lack of hard evidence that intelligent life has ever evolved outside of Earth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere is everybody?\u201d he famously asked.<\/p>\n<p>Well, Professor Cox thinks he might have the answer. But it isn\u2019t too cheery.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0the Sunday Times, Cox said: \u201cOne solution to the Fermi paradox is that it is not possible to run a world that has the power to destroy itself and that needs global collaborative solutions to prevent that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yup, essentially there&#8217;s a chance aliens wipe themselves\u00a0out\u00a0via\u00a0political turmoil before they ever become advanced enough to launch an interstellar exploration.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to warn: \u201cIt may be that the growth of science and engineering inevitably outstrips the development of political expertise, leading to disaster.
