The word “angel” comes from the Greek ánghelos, which means “messenger.” You are all messengers of love—messengers of the Elohim. Not only me. I gave you that terrible mission. For me, it’s easy. But for you—it was a choice. Nobody chose you. One day, you stood up and said: “I will be a messenger of the Elohim!”And you must feel that wonderful emotion every time you give a pamphlet, every time you sit in the street to meditate one minute for peace, every time you pronounce the word “Elohim.”
The best prayer is simply to say “Elohim.” Because they are watching you, and they are proud of you when you are yourselves.
People may look at you and think you’ve been brainwashed into a strange cult. But they are the ones who have been brainwashed. You chose to be you! That’s not easy, because all of society tries to make you someone you’re not. From the moment you start school, they tell you: “You have to be like this, sing like that, dress like that.” They mold you into something you are not. Then, one day, you go through a process and say: “I will be myself!” If you are lucky enough to find a good teacher, a good guru, he will try to help you become who you truly are. I’ve been doing that for fifty years—I try.
Some people think Maitreya changes people, turning them into zombies. But it’s society that makes you zombies. The TV makes you zombies. Politicians make you zombies. Go to any big city and you’ll see people walking the same way, wearing the same clothes, carrying the same little attaché cases, chasing the same goal—making money. And when they have the money, they buy a house that looks exactly like everyone else’s.
In Japan—and in Okinawa too—there are many buildings where all the apartments are identical. Everyone says: “This is my apartment.” I call these buildings “rabbit houses” because they look like the cages I once used to raise rabbits. Some people enjoy camping for vacations. They feel good there. So they have a vertical rabbit cage for their daily life—their apartment—and a horizontal rabbit cage when camping. Then they reach seventy, retire, and go to the cemetery asking: “Is there life after death?”
And I ask them: “Did you have a life before death?”
You have a life when you are yourself. My goal has always been to help you be you.
Eight years ago, this beautiful woman came here [referring to his partner]. She entered my house, and the first thing I told her was: “Be you! If you want to make me happy, be you!”
The more you are yourselves, the prouder I am of myself. I am a gardener, and for me, you are all flowers. In a garden—which I love—you find hibiscus, orchids, violets. They are all beautiful, but so different. You cannot ask a violet to become an orchid. They are themselves. I wish the same for you.
When I look at the Raelians, you are my garden. Be you. Shine your light. Some of you are little violets, some are beautiful orchids. Which flower are you? Find out—and grow into the best version of yourself.
So in the morning, you can look in the mirror and be in love with yourself: “I am a beautiful flower, created by the Elohim.” They are the first gardeners, and they want to see you shine.
Why do so few people go to the eternal life planet? Because to go there, you must be you—shining, dancing like Shizue, singing like Lotus. Even if you don’t have the same voice, sing your song, not Lotus’s song.
You each have a song: Tadao’s song is Tadao’s song; Viva’s song is Viva’s song. You know his song, right? “Viva la vie” [referring to Maitreya’s song]. Sing your own song. Don’t imitate others. Don’t conform.
Be you! And when I see you being you, that is the best gift you can give me. Always think and repeat: “Thank you, Elohim, for making me who I am!”
