Hundreds of ravers are flocking to a sex festival in the Kent town of Tunbridge Wells. But the kinky event has caused outrage among locals.<\/p>\n

Flamefest, which will run from Friday to Sunday, offers an \u201cadult playground\u201d and an outdoor S&M dungeon where people will be in the \u201csafe hands\u201d of dominatrices.<\/p>\n

The festival website reads: \u201cOur outdoor dungeon is discreetly secluded, furnished with fetish play equipment and monitored by our friendly assistants.<\/p>\n

\u201cExplore pain, experience pleasure and fulfil your fantasies on this mystical site, where witches\u2019 covens have met for centuries.\u201d<\/p>\n

People can also pay \u00a3600 (US$770) entry for a \u201ccompletely blacked out\u201d tent where they can indulge in sexual and nude activities.<\/p>\n

The festival, however, has been greeted with opposition by locals, who say they had not been consulted in advance of the event.<\/p>\n

Councillor Diane Hill, who represents the Southborough and High Brooms ward, said she has received complaints from locals.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m no prude but this is the wrong place for this sort of thing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a residential area. A big worry is they say there will be coaches coming down \u2013 where are they going to park?\u201d Hill told Kent Live.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople are obviously going to be concerned about the noise. I have contacted [Tunbridge Wells borough commander] Dave Pate so the police are aware.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that the event did not need the council\u2019s approval because it was being run on a temporary license.<\/p>\n

But festival organizer Helen Smedley seemed to allay concerns over Flamefest, which she said is a private event where there will be no public display of sexual activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019ll involve music, workshops, getting at one with nature,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got guests coming from all over Kent. We\u2019ve had someone fly in from Romania and Australia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe allow people the safe place to have sex, we\u2019re monitors, just to make sure everyone\u2019s safe.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s nothing that happens in view, on site. People go off to their tents to meet like-minded people.\u201d<\/p>\n
