“WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL” AUGUST 15-18, 1969
The Woodstock Festival was a music festival and an emblematic gathering of the hippie culture of the 1960s, organized in White Lake, New York, on the land of farmer Max Yasgur, 50 miles southwest of Woodstock. What could have turned into a fiasco by the mixture of drugs and disastrous weather became one of the greatest moments in the history of pop music, classified by the magazine “ROLLING STONE” among the 50 moments that changed the history of rock ‘n’ roll, the apotheosis of the hippie movement.
Organized to take place from August 15, 1969, till August 17, 1969, and to welcome 50 000 spectators, it eventually welcomed about half a million of them, and continued one more day, that is to say until August 18, 1969, in the morning. The festival hosted concerts by 32 folk, rock, soul, and blues bands, and soloists. The total budget for the artists’ remuneration reached ten million dollars.
More than 55 years later, all the pacifists of the world keep an inalienable memory of it.
