Social media has been grilling him for blaming innocent children rather than Western companies that are \u201clooting\u201d Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Macron addressed African issues during the June 7-8 G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany. However, the video of his speech was released on social media only on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The president said the African continent\u2019s problems were not economic, ecological, or political, but demographic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen countries still have seven to eight children per woman, you can decide to spend billions of euros, but you will not stabilize anything,\u201d\u00a0he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The French leader was slammed for his comments on social media by users who said children are once again being blamed for the African crisis, rather than the Western firms that are\u00a0\u201clooting\u201d\u00a0them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApparently looting of resources by Western companies is not a part of [Africa\u2019s] problems. It is the fault of 7-8 children [per woman],\u201d\u00a0one person sarcastically wrote on Twitter, adding that the demographic problem is the result of underdevelopment, not the cause.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has forgotten about the countries who are looting natural resources of Africa,\u201d\u00a0another wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Some people cited Macron\u2019s speech as an example of\u00a0\u201ceveryday racism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeven-Eight children per woman is not a problem of civilization,\u201d\u00a0one person said, while another added:\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s 2017 and France still shares colonialist and racist views towards Africa.
